Swat Kohistan Education Project (SKEP)
Swat Kohistan Education Project is a part of PVDP regular non formal program in District swat and Kohistan area
current project is focusing on education for vulnerable children age 7-14 this non formal education initiative has been
implemented from July 2006,in this program NFE Education is characterized by accelerated curriculum students in
these non formal schools complete primary education i.e. up to class V ,in three years. |

Project Achievements
- Establishment of 15 community based Schools
- Enrollment of 534(424 female& 110male) students of age 7-14
- Sensitization sessions with 675 parents regarding importance of education particularly female education.
- Formation of 15 PTAs with 120 members and 15 Mother Education Committees with 120 mother members
were formed and signed cooperation agreement with PTAs

The proposed project contributes to UNICEF “Welcome to School Campaign” in 112
primary schools in 4 selected Union Councils namely Hamsherian, Baffa, Ichriyan, and
Datta, of District Mansehra. PVDP has remained involved since December 2005 to
motivate communities in these UCs to establish tented schools to facilitate the
resumption of educational activities. The project helps the children in these communities
to come out of the trauma situation to a normal life. Furthermore the project also helps in
reactivating and strengthening the capacity of Parent Teachers Associations and school teachers |

contribute to UNICEF “Welcome to School Campaign” in 53 primary Schools in three

- Sensitization of 150 students and their parents on Importance of education and hygiene promotion .
- For insurance of attendance 27 tents have been installed in 25 schools and about 40 tents have been
maintained/ repaired to protect the students from severe weather condition
