Livelihood

The rural vicinities of district Batgram was already lag behind in all the sectors of development.
Especially the process remained slower when preceding in women folk of the society. The 8th October at 2005 earthquake jolted it along with other districts of surrounding areas. Insecurity forced many people to migrate, thereby separating them from their means of livelihood however; the most affected were poor farmers, females, elderly &children, who were even unable to obtain the needed relief material for them in mob situation. The relief stage seems to have concluded until the recent heavy rains and landslide causing damage to property and life.
 
Project Objectives:
  • To organize communities into sustainable development groups
  • To increase agricultural production through the provision of mproved verities of agricultural inputs and farmers skill enhancement;
  • To sup port widows and poor women to improve their household income through need based initiatives:
  • To build capacity of male and female community members in relevant skills to diversify and improve their source of income.
  • To rehabilitate community infrastructure (WES/Roads) with proactive beneficiary participation.
   
Major Achievements  
  • 4000 Community Members were sensitized on importance of women rights & their effective role in Community.
  • Established 5 vocational centers in three partner villages
  • Vocational training of 18 women as a master trainer
  • 55 community women completed vocational skill training in these centers & start their own business at Community level.
  • 50 farmers were trained in efficient use of agricultural inputs
  • Fertilizers and seeds were distributed among 3 hundred farmers to increase agricultural production
  • Distribution of 100 Pair of Goats & 300 hundred poultry sets to female headed households to improve their living standards through income generation . Activities
  • 3 Male and 3 Female Livelihood Committees have been formed.
  • For motivation and to anhance their self esteem some infrastructure wrk have been done through these committees like repair and maintenance of roads construction of three water supply schemes for their own communities.
